SWISS CHARD -- ONE OF THE HEALTHIEST VEGETABLES IN THE WORLD THAT IS ALSO EASY TO GROW! by John Musser Grow Swiss chard for your health and convenience! When we first started growing Chard we did not know what to do with it since we had so much growing. One day I brought in an armload, so we started making salads with it and testing out different ways to eat it! At first it took a couple times eating it to get used to it, as a salad, but now we love it and so does everyone else. We have chard salads often. Smaller leaves are great for salads. Sometimes we eat it alone or mixed with a Romaine or a red lettuce, with fresh onions, sweet (red or green) peppers OR Banana peppers. What I like the best is we have it ALL year and some we keep in the year house 365. We have had very few pests or disease related problems and with chard. A little care will keep you in salads and stir frys all year long. Also great for soups and juicing! Great for baking! We love it also for growing in our Aquaponics system when it freezes outside I always keep some in my AP system. We plant several varieties as seen on pictures, in different locations at our Urban farm. BELIEVE IT OR NOT! Swiss chard is not only one of the most popular vegetables along the Mediterranean but it is one of the most nutritious vegetables around and ranks second only to spinach following our analysis of the total nutrient-richness of the Worlds Healthiest vegetables.
