SYNOPSIS: Happy Wednesday! Heres the weather synopsis... ASIA: The Korean Peninsula has been doused with at least 100 mm of rainfall, and more is expected going throughout the rest of Wednesday into early Thursday. The low is also expanding into western Japan, bringing a chance for high amounts of precipitation for the latter part of the week. Temperatures will still reach the upper-20s (C) despite the rain, but expect fewer days of sunshine for this week. Meanwhile, the southern portions of China are seeing a bit of reduction in terms of the amount of rainfall. This is welcome news because of the heavy downpour that has plagued the area because of the monsoonal front. OCEANIA: The low pressure system moving around between Australia and New Zealand is throwing clouds over North Island, but the rain is not widespread. That will change going into Thursday. Expect more rainfall to arrive for New Zealand heading toward the weekend. Meanwhile, clouds cover the southern portions of Australia, and a cold front will then move across southern Western Australia by Friday, so that will provide some rainfall as well. EUROPE: The Balkan Peninsula is combating a cut-off low pressure system that continues to bring rainfall and storms. Albania reported 168 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours. The instability continues to open opportunities for strong storms. Expect this to be the case as we go through the rest of the workweek. Meanwhile, the heat continues in the Iberian Peninsula, so highs will be in the mid to upper-30s (C) under clear conditions for Spain and Portugal. N. AMERICA: The cold front responsible for causing problems earlier this week will attempt to clear the northeastern seaboard of the United States, but the forcing from a new low over the northern Rockies are driving warmer air into the mid-West, leading to the possibility of strong storms and flash flooding for Minnesota and Wisconsin. The US Deep South will likely see a chance for strong storms as well, but they will be isolated in nature. Meanwhile, high pressure brings drier conditions for the US Southwest. Rain will continue for the US Pacific Northwest into southwestern Canada. Tropical Storm Dolly will dissipate over Mexico now that it has made landfall, but look out for possible flooding from this system. Tropical Storm Norbert has form in the Eastern Pacific, but like many storms that develop in this region, it will just drift northwest into the Pacific Ocean and weaken over the colder waters. Hope you have a good day wherever you are!
