Sab golmal hai bhai, sab gol mal... While there are 46,300 undergraduate (MBBS) seats, there are only 22,000 postgrad seats in medicine, of which only 12,000 are in clinical subjects. As a result, medical graduates have to wait for years to get a PG seat. Taking advantage of the situation, private medical colleges charge hefty capitation fees (upto R 2 crores) for admission in super-speciality courses like radiology and orthopedics, among others.
