Sabbatical Meditations over a SALAD! Can you believe that!! Its green!! T. S. Eliot in his epic poem, The Waste Land, suggested that April was the cruelest month. There is some evidence to support this notion. For example on April 10, 1970 Paul announced the death of the Beatles! And im back in Tucson and the Beatles sang about Tucson so their death was very bad. And I got married in April as well. And the final, probably forever, interaction (if you can call it that) with her occurred on April 14. Oh btw that is the day Abraham Lincoln was shot and the night the Titanic hit an iceberg! Not a good day!! I have IV-XXVII-X (that is April 27, 2010) inked on my side (but Im not the only one) a while back after a person designed it. That is bad. So now if you ever see it I will tell you it stand for Numbers 27.10!! But does April have to be bad? On the plane I came up with a new agenda ... been working on it all sabbatical but it took structure as the girl next to me bugged me to death. Sooooo this week I am finishing my Pepperdine Lectures - I have the first two finished but #3 needs some work. I plan on updating my blog for the first time in 2014 and submit a piece to Wineskins (I wrote it the other night). I would give it to Gospel Advocate or the Spiritual Sword but I am not sure they would publish me but I cannot imagine why not!!!??? I am submitting my revised Scholars Conference paper on K. C. Moser to Restoration Quarterly or Stone-Campbell Journal, hopefully by the beginning of next week. And I have decided to unleash my book on Jonah I have been letting percolate for over a year. But I am so convinced that Jonah has so much to say to our contemporary church setting ... but my reading of Jonah (some of which has appeared on my blog) is not your VBS version of Jonah. So April may be or may not be the worst of all months (there are still bad things about it) but really a sign Gods Renewed Creation ... btw I did pick up a Spiritual Sword for the first time in many years while I was in Alabama ... Emmmmmmmmmmm I tell you ... Shalom on APRIL 16, 2014
