Sabri Malek Speaks on Russia Today (Arabic) Mr Sabri Malek, the official spokesperson of the Democratic Party, has spoken to Russia Today TV (Arabic) on the programme Panorama which will be broadcasted on Wednesday the 7th of August 2013 at 8:30pm Tripoli time; 7:30pm London time and on the following day. The topic of discussion was the current security problems in Libya. Mr Malek said that these security problems need to be seen in terms of the state of despondency and dismay that many Libyans are experiencing because of the failure of the government to try Gaddafi’s henchmen who are getting away with murder. Mr Malek rejected all extra-judicial justice but he emphasized that he understood the deep popular sentiment against the Gaddafi stooges. He went on to say that the recent sentencing to death of Ahmed Ibrahim was the right step in the right direction. Mr Malek hastened to add that things in Libya are not as bad as some anti-Arab Spring media outlets would like us to believe, especially that the political isolation law is currently being implemented. This will ultimately lead to security. Mr Malek reiterated the Democratic Party’s position of establishing a Truth and Reconciliation Commission as a necessary measure towards realising social peace in Libya. Mr Malek called for the immediate resignation of the failed government of Ali Zidan and for the appointment of a government of technocrats by the General National Congress. An election of a new GNC will be held within 6 months so that the Libyan people will be given the opportunity to get rid of all the Gaddafi stooges and the Muslim Brothers in the Congress. Mr Malek said that Libya, as all the Arab Spring countries, is experiencing a very serious ideological vacuum which can only be remedied by embracing secularism wholeheartedly, for it is part and parcel of Islam. Mixing politics with religion can only lead to Man falsely assuming divinity hence tyranny itself. Mr Malek said that Libya will soon have an economic isolation law which will punish all the countries that stand against the Arab Spring revolutions such as Russia and Germany.
