Sack IGP Abba, FCT Commissioner Now – Duhu By CHIKA OTUCHIKERE — Nov 22, 2014 | Leave a comment The immediate past All Progressives Congress (APC) national vice chairman, North-East, Dr Umar Duhu has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately relieve the inspector-general of police, Suleiman Abba and the commissioner of police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory, Inalegwu, of their positions over the deployment of policemen to the National Assembly on Thursday. In an interview with LEADERSHIP Weekend yesterday in Abuja, Duhu said the action of the police, which led to a commotion as a result of teargas attack on lawmakers, who broke the police cordon, was an usurpation of the power of the Legislature and embarrassing to all Nigerians. He added that the Presidency has only succeeded in making Tambuwal to enjoy the sympathy of Nigerians. “The Executive arm under the leadership of President Jonathan has over-stretched its bounds by trying to usurp the powers of the Legislative arm. In this regard, I call on President Jonathan to relive the IGP and the Police Commissioner in charge of FCT of their duties forthwith. They have not only embarrassed the Executive arm, but all Nigerians. “It is now evident that, instead of the Presidency succeeding in embarrassing Mr Speaker Tambuwal, it has rather drawn the sympathy of Nigerians to Mr. Speaker. Instead of Mr President to exercise a little patience to achieve his objective of getting the emergency rule extension rubber-stamped by the Legislative arm, the House has now succeeded in getting the emergency rule extension technically knocked off,” Duhu stated.
