Sacred rhymes There are many poems in the Elder Edda, but only the most arcane have authentic Galdurs that teach hard-core witchery. These hymns are named “Hava mal” (the high speech), “Vafþrvnis mal” (the strength-weaving speech), “Grimnis mal” (the ferocious speech), “For scirnis” (quest of the bright), “loka senna” (the alluring quarrel), “þryms qviđa” (the noice-chant), “Fra dauþa fafnis” (from death of the dragon) “gvđrvnar qviþa” (the good-secret chant) and “gvđrvnar hvávt” (the good-secret rouse) in our great grandmother’s book, while the opening section, “Uolo spa” (the witch’s prophecy), lacks title in the manuscript.
