Sad BRE Teacher (Teacher): This school year has been one of the most difficult in my career. Im not considered one of the beloved veteran teachers at our school. My face and name have been on unkind PowerPoints circulated by parents in our building. Its hard to walk through the halls wondering which parents do not like me, simply because I havent been teaching in this building for many years. I try to stay in my room as much as possible and each day I give myself a pep talking trying to convince myself that I can make it to the end of the year. There is such a distinction in our school between new and veteran teachers and it is only getting worse. The BRE staff and community can rest assured that this non-beloved teacher will not be back next year. I will continue to put my students (your children) first for the remainder of the year. What I ask in return is to be able to come to work each day and not be treated like an outcast because Im not a beloved veteran teacher. Can we all just be civil, or even kind, for the rest of the year?? The children in this school are paying a heavy price from all of this divisiveness.
