Sad evening :( Out for a Tim Hortons run and a baby deer had been hit by a vehicle and had its 2 front legs broken. We put the fawn in the truck and went with the OPP officer to a secluded spot so it could be put down. The officer didnt want to shoot it with people and houses around. He did it quickly once we got to the spot at the edge of town so it didnt continue to suffer. The mom came back to get her fawn but nothing could be done for her baby. There was another fawn with the mom but Im not sure if these were the same ones in our back yard recently. Somebody said a baby crossed the road by my house while we were waiting for the police so it might have been different ones. Nature is beautiful but it can be cruel.
