Sad news! A popular radio presenter with Wazobia 94.1 FM, Anthony Akatakpo, popularly known as, Diplomatic Akas-Baba, has been kidnapped in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The award-winning presenter from Delta State, was abducted at about 2am yesterday at his residence, Rumuekin in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state. He was said to have been tortured by the kidnappers in the presence of members of his family. The kidnappers were also said to have taken along with them iron cutters with which they cut the burglar proof in his apartment before they could gained entry into the house. The bandits, who shot sporadically, was also alleged to have shot the victim in one of his legs before they drove him away to an unknown place in a Mitsubishi Endeavor Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). Daily Sun gathered that the abductors had already demanded N10 million ransom before they could set him free. Akatakpo’s wife, Candy, confirmed the incident. Meanwhile, Candy has appealed to the abductors to release her husband unconditionally. Also, the management of Wazobia FM had appealed to members of the public with any useful information regarding the whereabouts of the presenter, or that could help in securing his release, to report to the nearest police station, call or send a text message to 08099930063.
