Sad news, re. my niece Heathers dog JOEs & their last s.calif. coastal trip to say goodbye: So Im broke but this isnt about me... its about Joe Brown Marshall. Most all of you know my best friend Joe. From the moment i took him off his big ugly chain in that junk yard 14 years ago he has been by my side. We cuddled we trained we walked we jogged. Hes the first granddog in the family growing up right along with Malik, you played fetch with baby Miles and you were a good strong and very entertaining nanny for Kaiya and even Kalli. We went to every beach from Venice and Malibu, North to Cannon Beach Oregon, South to Los Barrallies in Baja and everywhere in between. We hiked trails from the Santa Monica Mountains to the Majestic Rockies in the East dodging lightning through the yellow Aspens with your Uncle Kevin. We lived amongst the beauty of Mount Hood where you learned the hard way (twice) what a skunk is. We lived simply, we lived wildly, we lived with Rainbow kids in Nederland we lived in awe of the Redwoods we swam in wild rivers we surfed we kayaked, we walked and ran we drove and we drove and my how we drove... we have clocked thousands of miles together in the (mostly) trusty Old Green VW Bus. Joe has been my sixth sense my eyes my ears my protector, my constant companion... but he is weary and tired ... Joe was diagnosed with cancer in March and it is rapidly taking over, Though it breaks my heart, I have to step up and... let go... do the hard thing before it gets any worse. So then this is for Joe he hasnt much time but he deserves one LAST HOORAH! One last trip in the old green bus and to be honest I couldnt do it without YOU, my friends and my family . Im setting aside pride cause theres no time for that and Im asking anyone who wants to throw a donation towards JOES LAST HOORAH we would much appreciate it. This would be for gas maybe a steak for the old dude and ultimately vet bills and any extra funds we will donate to animal rescue. We will be moving into the bus for the next couple days, Joes favorite...driving around town, down at the beach for sunset and then heading north perhaps to Malibu? I will post as we go.
