Sad news tonight as a families home has burnt down, in Lenasia South on Azalea street, ext 1. It is believed that the fire was started outside the property, on the outer fence of the neighbouring school, which then burnt along the edge of the school gounds before making its way to the home next door. 2 gas tanks could be heard exploding in the home, which also caused the roof to collapse. Luckily, no fatalities have occurred. But a sad family had to return home this evening to an entirely guttered shell of what was once their home. Reports state that the firetrucks had gotten lost and could not find the home at first. But once on the scene speedily worked to extinguish the blaze from spreading further to other homes in the area. Our thanks go out to members of lenasia fire brigade, the lenasia south police, as well as reservists team who were on the scene to assist. A humble appeal is made to the community to please assist with any help they can offer to the family. [05]
