Sad our Government had made it difficult for mainstream Aussies to own a home. Sad that overseas ownership of private housing has become a virus. These people make their money off our backs then buy up our properties. Because overseas dollars are not taxed in the same way. If they lived here they would be subjected to our tax laws. Sure the taxes are paid on purchase but theory they purchased it with was not taxed in the same way ours is. Guess who wins? Guess what happens to all available properties as our children complete their educations to find out leasing and rentals are their only options for future housing. Unless you woke up one day to find Uncle Bob left you a tidy fortune you never earned yourself. Few and far in between there. I do not have an Uncle Bob. So Austalasia it has become. Do we have same options overseas? If we did we would purchase here first but we are not looking for a string of homes to own. We all only want one for our families. And that single home is becoming a rare option for many and none for our kids. What 25 year old managed to save $80k on a part time job selling sandwiches? And live eg eat clothe and house self. At 18 I had a full time job. I paid my own living expenses and had nothing left. I was in my 30s before a small windfall. I never earned it physically but it came to me. Without it at 51 today I would never have known home ownership on a Receptionists income. I see my son living with us til he can save enough to buy a maybe wife a home one day- if any are left for sale as property investors push the cost of our housing up and they dont live here and pay our taxes before using whats left to put towards a deposit. They say save even a small amount each week. Kids are penniless by pay day as we were. Minimum wages maximum hours- no overtime but u were told no job if you didnt work for nothing. The hours free I gave my employers due to threat others can replace you, amounted to unecessary stress on a young person which causes egg shell operations and fear - so mistakes happen. These older people enjoy the power and influence they have over their co- workers. This is their future, just to remain confident at least but even that is hampered by governments broken promises of the old Aussie dream. We need to look at new ways of giving Australians who work hard opportunities to make a stake. So... Tony Abbot think about that next time you splash in your budgie huggers at the beach - thing is all your kids will own a home - we know that and so too their kids. Give the kids of Australia a vision and hope ..... a future - stop giving rich peoples kids overseas the option of owning our kids homes. Time to look at micro units apparently.....
