Sad to hear that Mickey Rooney died yesterday at 93 yrs old. I was a big fan of his growing up. My favorite movie with him was Boys Town. I always liked Father Flanagan’s quote “There’s no such thing as a bad boy.” At least they aren’t born that way. It’s a set of circumstances that make them that way. He started his career at 17 months old, appeared in over 300 movies, and was the first teenager to be nominated for an Oscar in a leading role. The most amazing thing to me though, is that he was married 8 times. 8 times. I don’t know how you keep going back for more of that. I’m a happily married man of 40 years now, but if I escape this prison, they aren’t taking me back alive. Mickeys story reminds me of a piece I read a couple of weeks ago about this guy who robbed a shoe store, went to jail for 15 years, then went back and robbed the same store the day after he got out. I guess it’s just what you’re used to. I should probably shut up now. I’m gonna mess around and let Mickey get me divorced. Before I go though, I want to share this tidbit of wisdom I got from an old man many years ago. He said “You want to know the key to wealth Donnie?...One wife.” Can I get an amen? RIP Mickey. A man married 8 times, really deserves it.
