Sad to hear the passing of singer Alvin Stardust aged 72. Alvins real name was Bernard Jewry and started in the Music Business in 1960 when a roadie for Shane Fenton and the Fentones. It was a name he would be asked to adopt, when a young Shane Fenton died from Rheumatic fever and was asked to take on the name by Shane Fentons mum when being promoted to Lead singer, when the Band found fame on the BBC and a record deal with Parlophone 1960-1963, with the best hit Im a moody Guy which sadly a copy of which I own. Bernard didnt find fame of his own until given a new name Alvin Stardust by Peter Shelley, co founder of Magnet Records and had his first hit in 1973 with My Coo Ca Choo, which got to number 2 in the charts, followed by Jealous Mind that got to number 1. youtube/watch?v=QYSlU-QsMog
