Sada Aden announced it will stop publishing any statement from southern leaders until they agree on a unified course of action. Its a new and novel way to try to force these elites to come to a real agreement and unified stance. Contradictory and inaccurate statements are being issued by this personality or that one as an obvious attempt to sway the public in to one camp or another. These factions are outdated and counter-productive and act in the same outdated and counter-productive ways over and over and over again. It appears that most southern political elites are more concerned about gaining political position and authority for themselves-- forgetting entirely that their jobs as representatives is to represent the people. The cult of personality is a poor substitute for democracy. And an independence movement that strives for - but does not practice- democracy does not inspire confidence in anyone. Sentimental attachments to one person or another, and the exploitation of those sentiments, is what stalled progress of the southern movement since its inception. There is a next step after demonstrations. It is institution building. All these leaders should be tossed aside, some kind of mechanism for selecting delegates established, and a congress seated that is the voice of the people legitimized and embodied in an institution. However it is very late. And these are old men set in their ways and in their relationships with each other. But until there is some progress, ignoring them and their self serving propaganda seems as good a tactic as any. sadaaden/read-news/309999
