Sadly, another example of the shar pei breed being misunderstood. They rightly talk about their independence but they wrongly conclude that means theyd be content being adopted into a families that are busy and often away from home. In my experience, shar pei need to be an integral part of your life and not an ornament adorning your home or yard. While they dont typically need or want much from people outside their family - they absolutely need relationship with their people for long term happiness. It is just as important as oxygen is in the short term.
