Sadly, the US is now a country that genuflects before dictators and abandons the oppressed when the oppressor has enough economic clout. The Chinese invaded Tibet. They have killed and tortured thousands, destroyed ancient Buddhist relics, interfered in a monastery system that is thousands of years old, and sent Chinese colonists to displace natives. To placate them, we simply consider the matter closed, Tibet is part of China. The Dalai Lana pleaded for help and was ignored by the world. Tibet has no resources to plunder. Only the oldest living Buddhist tradition in the world. One the Chinese are systematically destroying. But we wouldnt want to offend them would we? After all, it might interfere with the supply of cheap consumer goods ... I mean the profits of campaign contributors. Like in Africa, we ignore ongoing genocide because there simply isnt anything worth stealing.
