Sadly, up here in the Northeast, its getting close to that time of year, when instead of riding our bikes, we dream of how much better the rides will be next year, after the Winter teardowns and rebuilds! Ive got a ghost in the machine that I need help on. While cruising along and just riding without putting any pressure on the system, the bike purrs along. The problem occurs, when I get on it, somewhere about 3/4 throttle and above, the engine coughs and breaks up! 2 years ago I resurrected the bike from a dormant 7-10 year sleep and cleaned and flushed the carbs back to life. At the time, the floats were replaced. New air cleaner, gas lines and filters, coils, spark plugs and wires. Is it possible, that its time to change the Needle and Needle Jet? Maybe just an air leak at the carb and air intake boots? What else should be replaced while Im at it? What else would cause the engine to break up when under the gun? Thanks in advance!
