Sadness has a strange way of turning to anger. I hope the deaths of these two young men will cause us to take a second look at the growing sport of drag racing and allow us to avert some of the risks associated. I understand the association was given land to develop a proper race track some time ago but nothing has happened due to lack of funds. To expect a group of semi-organized young men to raise funds from the private sector in the middle of the worst recession we have ever know is to say, please continue to operate in the most unsafe manner, please continue to play cat and mouse games with the police when you illegally use the roads as a race track etc. We might not understand it but to many young people drag racing and having the fastest car and winning bets is as emotional as boat racing is to my generation. I can only hope some good comes of this loss and we seek ways to prevent similar tragedies in the future
