Saeed Ajmal Suspension: Why should we accept the validity of these tests? We all understand that the University of Western Australia has pioneered and has been testing actions of various bowlers including Saeed Ajmal for many years. In fact, I am convinced that ICC created the 15 Degree rule on their recommendation as they found no bowler worth their salt could bowl with 8 degrees flexion. Most bowlers would be called if that was the case. Then in late August this year, a completely unheard of centre for such work was brought to our attention. ICC claimed it was a its accredited team of Human Movement Specialists, using the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane, who had seen that Saeed Ajmal was bowling at an amazing40 degrees over the limit! The whole world erupted - well those who had a bone to pick with Ajmal. I told you so arguments came into play but really, how many of us are scientifically able to prove that he did goover? Why was the UWA lab which have lead the research in this matter been put aside and a hitherto unknown centre of accredited ICC specialists come out of nowhere? Who is vetting this accreditation? Add to that the convenient announcement that 3 such centres have come upand you do wonder if Prof Elliot at UWA has beenplaying solitaire on his computer all this while!I am afraid, all is not what it seems here and the voices of Clive Lloyd and others who are beginning to question this issue are not the only ones to be heard - there should be and will be more clarity on ICCs methods. This should not be a secret and the methods and methodology should be vetted by UWA experts. Also read:theage.au/articles/20...?from=storylhsProf Elliots profile hereuwa.edu.au/people/Bruce.Elliott
