Safe home, Joe Franklin. For the uninitiated, Joe Frankling was a legendary talk show host - credited, incidentally, with starting the television talk show - whose show ran on WOR-TV (Channel 9) in New York for decades. I first became aware of him when Billy Crystal did a parody of him on SNL in the infamous 1984 season: https://facebook/video.php?v=10150258361096923&permPage=1 It was only when I was channel surfing a few weeks later that I realized that Joe Franklin was a real person, and that Crystals portryal of this throwback, surrealistic format was spot-on. Franklin was known for having guests from widely-disparate backgrounds (like a famous comedian or singer, a successful business owner, and someone with an out-of-the norm career like a bounty hunter) on the show together, and then hed have his guests interview one another, essentially. It was awkard and fascinating at the same time... oh, and that ragtime theme! Now, if only I could find video of Norma Pike Tafts Kaleidoscope from Greenburgh Public Access television!
