Safe in Zimbabwe. Since I travel reasonably a lot, I make a point - TopicsExpress

Safe in Zimbabwe. Since I travel reasonably a lot, I make a point of comparing our passport-stamping-officials with that of other countries. Okay this morning leaving Windhoek ( o6h30) was yet another rude awakening experience at the Hosea Kutako International Airport. The small words Good Morning or Thank You or Enjoy your flight obviously does not exist in the officials day to day job description. I deliberately left out some info on my departure paper, ( to see if the official will pick it up ) o yes indeed she did. Well done for her, but i was treated like an enemy of the state for that. Arriving in Harare did the same exercise ( I know i gambled a little) and as true as Nannies the gentleman assisted me like a professional, by showing me the empty spaces, and even in his own hand writing filled the info in. And with a smile instructed another airport official to assist me as I did not know at the time which hotel ill be staying at, to go the arrivals hall where my host was suppose to meet me. Although he was not there yet, and not answered his phone, the official still assisted me without any issues. And once assured him Im here on official business he stamped the passport and I was free to go. Swaziland, Uganda, Kenya and Zambia according to me can really enter a Border Control Friendly Competition for Africa and it will be hard to see who will take first place, as all these countries really perform well.
