Safe release of abducted drivers demanded MU NEWS/IMPHAL, Sep 26 : Joint Action Committee (JAC) against kidnapping of the Driver Heikrujam Ibomcha and Thangjam Romen appeal to release the two drivers who were kidnapped by Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) within 48 hours. In a press conference held at the Manipur Press Club, President of the JAC Thangjam Sanathoi said the two drivers were kidnapped by the cadres of ZUF from a place near Barak Bridge along Imphal-Jiribam route when they are on way to Imphal in their truck Tata 207 (MN01 X 0809) on September 17. The kidnappers have demanded five lakh rupees for their release before September 27. The owner of the truck is Bobby Ngangom of Wangkhei. The vehicle was hired by Lamabam Indrajit of Joypur Khunou, Ningthoujam devan of Thanga Ngaram and Jongkholai lof Joypur Khunou Maning Leikai. The drivers are supplying betel nut leaves from Jiribam. JAC has demanded release of the two drivers Heikrujam Ibomcha (35) son of (L) Irabot and Thangjam Naocha alias Romen(26) son of Th Toman both from Pangei Yunman Leikai within 48 hours from today. Otherwise the JAC will go for further agitation along with civil societies of the state.
