Safety Alert!!! I know the person from this incident. - Anyone else encounter a gentleman going door to door trying give free carpet cleaning? Being driven around in a newer Dodge Minivan in a rust color, only info I saw on the slip of paper before he took it back was a number from Out of the area. He couldnt believe I would say no and asked why I didnt want free carpet cleaning.. I just said again that I wouldnt. Thats when he said hed pass it on to another neighbor. Maybe legit, but Im not giving a stranger access to my home!! However, I had the door open and was standing out with my barking dog before he even stepped on the first step. He never came all the way up, but also never got a peek inside. I wanted to get the point across that a) the house wasnt empty b) that I wasnt naive enough to give him access and c) I was NOT buying what he was saying. ------------------------------ This guy was casing the neighborhood for burglaries. PERIOD. SURE, they may come in and just clean your carpets but they are looking at EVERYTHING in your home and waiting for you to leave. They may be looking to do something even more horrible than just robbing you of your possessions. Now, she handled this pretty well because she was aware of his arrival. What else should she have done? A. A sketchy stranger should not be met unarmed. B. She should have informed him of her intent to notify law enforcement to discourage him from continuing to prey on this neighborhood. C. Notifying your neighbors should be a priority. D. Do not leave your house anytime shortly after the incident.
