Sage Grouse Comments Needed As some of you know, the Bureau - TopicsExpress

Sage Grouse Comments Needed As some of you know, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has proposed an amendment to its Resource Management Plan (RMPA) that impacts grazing, energy development, and public lands recreation. The purpose for the RMPA is to demonstrate to US Fish and Wildlife Service that adequate regulatory mechanisms exist to protect the sage grouse and its habitat. Establishing adequate regulatory mechanisms are important to avoiding the listing of the sage grouse under the Endangered Species Act. OFB and Oregon Cattlemans Association (OCA) have combined efforts to create draft comments for individual members and permittees to personalize and submit to BLM. You can receive those draft comments by sending an email to sagegrousecomments@orcattle or requesting a hard copy from the OFB offi ce. In addition, if you wish to submit your own comments independent of the draft comment mentioned above, you may submit those comments electronically at: [email protected] or by mail addressed to: BLM - Greater Sage-Grouse EIS, 1220 SW 3rd Avenue, Portland, OR 97204. Lastly, OFB and OCA will jointly submit more thorough comments to BLMs RMPA proposal. If you would like more information regarding those comments, do not hesitate to contact Mike Freese at OFB. We strongly encourage members to submit comments supporting public lands grazing and highlighting the importance for working ranches to Oregons economy. For more information, please contact Mike Freese at (503) 399-1701.
