Said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after me, let - TopicsExpress

Said Jesus unto His disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. One must sit down and count the cost to be His disciple. And habitual sins such as these, will knock down the saint to the depths of despair and torments the conscience as it grieves the Holy Spirit. But even after repentance, there is no hope of victory over such pollutions of sins that easily snares us and traps us. Even my repentance needs to be repented of. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh and these are contrary to one another nevertheless such contrariness of struggle is evidence in the same saint in whom God promised, a new heart will I also give thee and a new spirit will I put within thee and I will take away the stony heart out of thine flesh and I will give thee a heart of flesh. At times, assurance is suspended, though grace is granted to him. If it is not of Gods grace I would have perished long ago. Jesus said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are. Isaiah 57:17, For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he WENT ON FROWARDLY IN THE WAY OF HIS HEART. Though our new man is being renewed day by day, nevertheless the awful depravity of that old sinful nature is always and still there plunging me to same vomit again like a sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire, thereby leaving the saint in utter despondency and shame, mourning that it had been better not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto me. Having preached unto others lest I myself disqualified. O how fearful it is to fall into the hands of living God! Decision making seems to me a non-entity but yes responsibility and onus lies on me. And true it is, that God gives His enabling grace and PRESERVES me, to fulfil my responsibility of PERSEVERANCE till the end!!! as I trust in Him WHO IS ABLE TO KEEP ME FROM FALLING AND TO PRESENT ME FAULTLESS BEFORE THE PRESENCE OF HIS GLORY WITH EXCEEDING JOY. The very word EXCEEDING JOY tells me the CERTAINTY, SURETY and the DELIGT OF GOD in enabling the saint attaining to a higher ground (not in this life - so not progressive sanctification) where we shall never again grieve His Spirit. GOD PRESERVES US TO PERSEVERE!!! because it is God who performs ALL things for me and WORKS IN ME TO WILL AND TO DO OF HIS GOOD PLEASURE!!! The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.
