Said this in a comment but it bears repeating. In regards to Steve Coburns meltdown: Where were those words when he was winning the Preakness and training for the Belmont??? The Triple Crown didnt just start this year. It is unfortunate he didnt win, but if California Chrome was in the league of Secretariat (why does everyone hasten to compare Derby and Preakness winners to the greatest horse of all time?) he wouldve won regardless of race tactics and competition. He was never comfortable the entire race. He outran his pedigree 2 races ago. They should be thankful he has accomplished what he has. God willing, he will live to race another day. I didnt hear Smarty Jones owners echoing Coburns sentiments - and Smarty would beat California Chrome any day - and they gunned for Smarty (We saw that, Jerry Bailey). Coburn needs some humility and perspective, STAT!
