Sailor, Oh Sacred - TopicsExpress

Sailor, Oh Sacred Seafarer ------------------------------------ for Phil Ochs What stormy harbor has taken you in, Eclipsing all your voyages and treks? That fresh-faced, James Dean, open toothy grin Has faded in one final phantom wreck, And we, bereft, must sift the tattered planks. When will we hear your sweet-edged prism voice Again across the water, up fog banks, Make darkness quell, humanity rejoice? In Lincoln Park, in grimy Greenwich clubs, The people come and go. Your shadow throws Its weight of castaways in trouble, rubs Against them as they hurry in their rows. You went against the grain, you sang for free. This treasure holds, this treasure of the sea. --Barbara Taylor, Dec/22/1994 https://youtube/watch?v=W7BuCqOIW_w
