Saint Patricks Day is a cultural and religious holiday celebrated on 17 March (Monday), the death date of the most commonly-recognised patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick (c. AD 385–461). Irish recipes to usher in St. Patrick’s Day. You can smell it before the bowl hits the table: chunks of beef, potatoes, onions and carrots, all glistening in a gravy that hints of Guinness, Worcestershire sauce and herbs. It’s the stew served at just about every Stateside pub that sports a Celtic font.
