Salaam alaykum , Great Morning, and Happy Ramadan! Ramadan is our opportunity to develop and solidify great habits. Lets seize it! What better way than to start with your health. Eating healthy and engaging in physical activity will significantly improve our spirituality with Our Creator.I will share with you what my Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) looks like to see how I sustain myself throughout the 18 hour day fast. In the pictures you shall see the natural ingredients of milk, oats, ginger, honey, cinnamon, dry unsalted peanuts, dates, bananas, watermelon, coconut milk, coconut water, and water which yields a simple, healthy, and dense meal. A meal that actually gives you satiety without a heart attack! The product: hot oatmeal (oats, milk, chopped banana, peanuts, dates, cinnamon, ginger, and honey) with chopped watermelon, coconut water, water, and a multi vitamin. Now I know some brothers are looking at these photos like dang I need to have me some beef with rice, fried eggs, etc. at 4 am because I dont want to be hungry throughout the day lol. On the contrary, all that salt and grease is only going to make you more thirsty and cause stomach pain during the fast. In addition, it will likely cause unhealthy weight gain. But that cant be normal in a entire month in which you are fasting, right? Lol. I stated the brothers because I dont think the sisters have this problem lol Its Ramadan, make some sacrifice to remember Allah!!! That is exactly what this month is about, drawing closer to God. This blessed month of Ramadan is not an excuse to complain, rather its an excuse to gain!!! Compare your daily productivity levels after eating healthy meals. May Allah make it easy for us to truly understand and embrace Ramadan. Insha Allah it is easy for all of us to eat healthy to enhance our relationship with God. Ameen.
