Salam, For me the best starting salary for fresh grad is RM1500. Once confirmed (after 3-6 months) increase to RM2000. On 1st year anniversary increase to RM2500. At this juncture, him/her should have adequate competencies to really join the rat race and climb up the corporate ladder. Then they can pursue their desired salary .. I really against a high starting point for freshie. It distort the market. Its an unnecessary risk for employer. Its create complacent among the freshie. It put-off the fire in the belly inside them to pursue further success. Its wipe off the only opportunity for the freshie to experiences life with the very basic. And its eliminate the most important aspect, the test-run for the actual rat-race & corporate ladder climbing process. Personally, I know more than a dozen persons who start their career with less than RM2000. After 10 years, they earning 5 figures per month and of course 6 figures per year. And personally, i also know more than a dozen people who start off with salary ranging between RM 4000 to RM 6500. And they are still earning lesser than 5 figures a month with some of them earning lesser than 6 figures per year. And this is after a decade of career .. Trust me, i am a HR Manager specializing in Recruitment. I professionally knew the complete career history of more than 3000 candidates that i had interviewed so far .. However, this is only my opinion. As for my current employer, they have their very own policy that i must adhere to. Meanwhile for my personal hire, i do implement this and the result is quite awesome so far.
