Salam Wa Rahmah, Ramadhan is the busiest month for me and friends at PPAS. We are not a political party members of PAS but we are Jemaah of religious classes held daily, Monday till Friday for 3 hours at the new Selangor State Library near Section 13, opposite to Sultan Abdul Aziz Golf Course. The official name of the library is Perbadanan Perpustakaan Negeri Selangor or PPAS. Most people take advantage of the generous rewards promised to us by Allah SWT when Sedaqah are given out during Ramadhan. Amazing ! The Jemaah here are generous people and especially during this holy month. We have like almost 20 volunteers working from morning , the minute the hall is open, then our Chief Cashier will go round asking if people need small notes as there will be donation boxes circulating and everyone will contribute with Ikhlas to these boxes. We have 2 categories, 1 for the running of the hall and cash Hadiyah for the Uztaz. We have 16 classes in a week in total. The other category is for Fisabilillah and this will be distributed to various organizations like Tahfiz, Orphanages, or students going for studies overseas and also emergency funds for fire & flood victims , for the poor etc etc. Alhamdulillah, we always have more than enough to cover the rentals at the library, which is a comfortable hall enough to accommodate 350 people with adequate facilities which includes projectors , good sound systems and good air-conditioning. Last month , while i was in Turkey, they bought new conference chairs with table for all of us. We never complain as some of us were sitting on the floor before this and we we taken by surprised when they moved in the new chairs. Now everyone is almost comfortable with the new arrangement. We made suggestions that the Ustaz should be on a raised platform so that everyone can see him and we got it the following day. We are grateful to the Pengarah, Puan Mastura for taking a keen interests in our well beings. In the morning the minutes we walk into the hall , there will be lots of noice and most ladies will bring out their Tupperwares or other containers to share their breakfast. We have Lynda with her Apam Balik. Shw will drive to the market to buy specially to share with all of us . She will reserve some for her favorite Uztaz too. Hi hi hi. Then they have some bringing assorted local cakes, and Halilah always spoiling us with her chocolates and fruits from the Pasar Borong. The atmosphere is different on Monday & Thursday when most will observe the Obligatory Fasting or Puasa Sunnah. So less eating, but still plenty of talking till the Uztaz walks in. Then there will be people bringing all sorts of goodies to sell like cakes, kerepek, sambals, cooked dishes , even chicken chop ready to fry and even fresh vegetables like Serai, Daun Ubi etc etc. Some bring from their garden to share with the Jemaah. Its really fun with this Jemaah. We have some selling scarves, Telkong, stockings for muslimah, etc etc. Some even contributed back to our fund with the profits they made. I allow anyone to bring in anything to sell but they have to observe 2 simple rules: 1. The place must be kept clean all the time 2. The Bazaar must close the minute the class starts and they can resume business after the classes. When you have these facilities incorporated in our classes, it makes life easy for the jemaah. They just have to go back and boil rice and within minutes lunch will be ready for their family. They are regulars in the classes, Istiqomah and we have develop close bond with one another. Its one big family actually. The men are very quite but they love to watch our crazy activities but off course they contribute generously to the donation box too. Nasir and Nazif assist us diligently and we appreciate very much. I have a good, hardworking and efficient team and all are volunteers. Azizah Mohd, takes care of the finance , keeping excellent record which are checked by Uztaz Kamal Ashaari and Uztaz Salehuddin who are our advisers, then we have Rusliha Hashim taking care of Ustaz schedules & time table and assisted by Nor Aziyah and we have Kak Kiah & Nomi , Cashiers and many more names like Kak Maimunah ,Zainaf, Mariam, Datin Zaharatul, Halilah, that helps us with counting the total collections at the end of the day . Now you can understand why i need to buy many gifts when i travel.Hi hi hi. I just love all these ladies and 2 weeks away from the classes is a long time. I always miss them and i just want to share the goodies that i enjoy eating in the countries that i travel. For those who are still looking for classes to attend do join us at PPAS. We have good Uztaz, good Kitab & Tafsir and we have fantastic group of Jemaah. Our class will resume after the Eid Fitri break on the 4th of August. Collect our schedules of subjects & Uztaz from the class. In the meantime stay healthy and lets strive to make this Ramadhan , our best ! Maassallamah!
