Salient Points every Filipino Voter should consider re: the upcoming #BarangayElections (#VotersEducation #Philippines): 1. No rule/law of man, or religion, or interest group, or trend, SHOULD COMMAND YOU, or should impose upon you, or should influence your choice re: the kind of candidate you should vote for. 2. Compare and contrast. Instead of voting wisely or voting based on your conscience, VOTE RATIONALLY. - Your reasons re: choosing a candidate should be based on empirical evidence, facts, track record, and other rational variables. 3. Educate yourself. It is your responsibility as a citizen to check if the qualification and experiences of a candidate is compatible with the public post he/she is aspiring for. For any responsible voter, that should be a major consideration. One could be a well-known figure but his/her expertise has nothing to do with public service, while another may not have the educational attainment or the prestige re: reputation of a rival candidate but his/her track record, exposure, and experiences are more compatible with the position he/she aspires for. 4. Vote Responsibly. Your loyalty MUST not lie on your personal relationships with candidates but on your duty as a stakeholder in your community. - Ensure that whatever choice youll make re: who to vote for should be based on merit, abilities/qualifications of candidates (in connection to the requirements of the public post he/she aspires for), and not based on affiliation and personal relations. 5. Remember that you, as a voter, is accountable to every single vote youll make. Vote with your rational mind wide open. That is your duty as a citizen. Exercising your right to suffrage means you can choose to vote, or you can choose not to. - If you feel none of the candidates deserves to get your sacred vote. Just ensure that youll go to the voting precinct, sign the corresponding spaces in the ballot with NA and/or your signature, and follow the rest of the voting procedure. Not voting in this manner isnt considered as disenfranchisement, but a more dignified manner of exercising your political rights and personal freedom. --- Note: If theres anybody among you, my fb friends, who can translate (and willing to do so) these stuff into Tagalog and/or #Ilokano, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and goodnight.
