Salil Rajadhyaksha was this typical Mumbai teenager eating out - TopicsExpress

Salil Rajadhyaksha was this typical Mumbai teenager eating out almost everyday. Then one day like a bolt out of the blue, an 8 year old child asked him if he had Diabetes and then it hit Salil that he had gotten seriously out of shape. He did the usual thing - joined weight loss centres, spent his parents hard earned money (something that he still feels guilty about) on programs/diets that included no food, no exercise only massage and some electric currents through his body. Even as he went through the rigmarole, he knew that this was no way to lose weight. He picked every diet book on the shelf and in the process picked up Dont lose your mind, lose your weight in 2012. He started with the small step of cutting down on eating out, limiting it to once a week. This single step snowballed into a series of other steps - working out, sleeping on time, eating on time. He never bothered stepping on the scale but only on stepping up his efforts. A journey that started from 160kgs to his current 98kgs over 2 years. Its a journey from eating out all the time to once a week, not working out to pushing over 400lbs on the leg press, from huffing and puffing in the pool to 500mtrs in 12 mins. Its a journey of leading a life with a sense of responsibility towards the body, about being disciplined so that you always feel free and not trapped inside your body. Its a journey of courage, grit and determination, a journey that goes beyond the number on the scale. Will you embark on one?
