Salt or Salty or no Salt Salt is made of 40% Sodium & 60% by weight as Choride. Sodium is a crucial electrolyte & body can not function without it. But more sodium in blood more water it binds & so sodium increases Blood pressure also Increases Risk for heart Diseases(Congestive Heart Failure),stroke, kidney ailments. Average salt intake must be limited from 4 to 6grams/day but mostly above 9grams/day is used as most of foods contain extra salts as meat products etc.. If we limit sodium intake 3mm of systolic & 2mm of Diastolic Blood Pressure is reduced in normal individuals but in Hypertensives 6mm systolic & 3mm diastolic BP is reduced on average studies. Hyponatremia,Hypernatremia etc.are medical emergencies & managed as per clinical presentations & level of Sodium in blood. Real panic starts when Sodium levels fall below 125meq/L or more than 155meq/L. Low sodium diets also cause increase in bad cholesterol & increase in triglycerides,insulin resistance, obesity & metabolic syndromes or complications. Salt requirements also varies during summer or in hot weather conditions or during exercises depending on amount of sweat loss. Target Salt intake must be less than 4grams/day. Eat Real food A bit salty.
