#Salute: Town of #SpringLake, N.C., Veterans Day Ceremony Pays Tribute to #Heroes -- At Spring Lakes Annual #Veteran’s Day Ceremony, its heroes will be recognized. “Spring Lake has always been proud of its military ties,” says Mayor Chris Rey. “We are especially honored to celebrate all our #Veterans on occasions such as #VeteransDay. They are so much a part of who we are as a Town and a community. We are proud to have them as neighbors, family and friends. As we tout all the time, they are our real heroes.” The Town’s pride in its military can clearly be seen with a visit to its website and social media pages. Its “Our Heroes Wear Dog Tags” drive is ongoing and deeply embedded in several of its events. According to the Town Manager, it isn’t just a passing campaign. It is an ongoing mindset and something they are #proud to do. There is no agenda or gain, just the Town’s way of acknowledging the contributions the men and women in uniform make. The Town’s Veteran’s Day Ceremony is Tuesday, November 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Veteran’s Park, located at the corner of Ruth and Main Streets in Spring Lake. The ceremony includes opening remarks from Mayor Chris Rey; special recognition of women’s veterans by Alderman James Christian; presentation of Memorial Brick to retiring XVIII Airborne Corps Tasking Officer (RET. Maj.) Phillip Edwards and special tributes to veterans by veterans. Our keynote speaker will be #USArmy MG Jimmie Jaye Wells, Chief of Staff, US #Army Forces Command. Colors will be posted by the #82ndAirborneDivision Color Guard; the National Anthem will be sung by SFC Joseph Armas from the 82nd Airborne Division and Taps will be delivered by the bugler from the 82nd Airborne Band. There will also be the traditional laying of the wreath and taps. The audience will have the opportunity to participate in throughout the ceremony and is strongly encouraged to do so.
