Salute to America will be the theme for the 41st annual Labor Day celebration in Burdick, which will be held on September 1st and 2nd, 2013. Our traditional Sunday morning worship will be led by Pastor Bill Peterson from Hebron Lutheran Church, assisted by Pastor Jay J Beck of the United Methodist Church. The service will start at 9:30 AM on the tennis courts. Everyone is welcome to attend and encouraged to bring lawn chairs. At the conclusion of the service rolls and coffee will be served in the fire station, sponsored by the Council of Clubs. Sunday night entertainment at 7:30 PM, will be by Johnny Red-Eye, rockabilly and classic country tunes. You won’t want to miss it! A favorite after the show will be homemade ice cream for sale by the Methodist Church. Raffle tickets for one of a kind hand-made coat trees will be on sale throughout the evening and again on Monday. Monday morning activities will start with a 2 mile fun run/walk sponsored by TCT, Burdick Oil, Burdick Meat Market and Pepsi at 9:00 AM. Registration starts at 8:30 AM at the north end of Main Street but advanced registration is appreciated. Coffee and rolls, bake sales, arts and crafts, inflatable fun and funnel cakes will be available throughout the day. Centre FFA/FBLA will serve lunch from 11:30 to 1:00. The Burdick Hustlers 4-H will also have concessions available. For your listening pleasure during the lunch hours, Tony Carl and the Alex Stuchlik family will provide some musical entertainment. There will be a break at 12 noon for our popular pie auction. Among the pies to be auctioned will be gooseberry, coconut crème, fruit pies and a cheesecake. Pedal Power registration will start at 1:30 PM on the tennis court, along with parade line up at the Methodist church. The parade will start at 2:00 PM. Get your thinking caps on and call Bill and Jennifer Kassebaum @ 785-983-4407 to make your entry today, CASH prizes are awarded in many different categories. At 3:00 PM a disc golf tournament will start at the Legion grounds. The Pedal Pull competition will start at 3:00 PM also, along with a frisbee competition for children. Parade prizes and the winning tickets for the coat trees will be announced at 4:00 PM. There will be a variety of activities to enjoy throughout the day, so plan now to join us for a fun day!
