Salvation (in the Christian faith) is traditionally believed to come in a moment, when a person hears and believes the word of truth concerning Christ. More still, it is believed that at the point of belief, the Spirit of God seals him—to remain with him furthermore (Eph.1:12-13). It is also traditionally believed that although God made saving knowledge of himself attainable in nature (from the point of creation), man not only refused his truth, but suppressed it (Rom. 1:18-20). Therefore, none were excusable before God, as to say they didn’t know. So it is believed that although God would have given a just judgment to the good (Rom.2:7), none were good (Rom.3:11). And while it is believed that all fell short of the glory of God, it follows that all are given hope in justification by the grace of Jesus; who, in his death, covers over the sins of all who believe (Romans 3:22-25). Conclusively, (regarding salvation) it is the Christian mission to: (1) tell all that the light of salvation entered the world and made himself available to any who should believe, and (2) to make an appeal before men that his spirit is living in us. Beloved, I believe the best you can give during this advent season is: (1) your prayer and service to God’s cause among the nations, and (2) your willingness to allow his Spirit to be made manifest in you as he sees fit. Therefore, as we prepare to celebrate the glory of his birth, let us not overlook the intent of his coming. Be about the mission!
