Salvation through Christ-Raul Ries And Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord; my horn is exalted in the Lord. I smile at my enemies, because I rejoice in Your salvation.” 1 Samuel 2:1 In Chapter 1 of 1 Samuel, Hannah was blessed by the Lord and given a child, who she dedicated to serve the Lord for his entire life. Now, in Chapter 2, we have Hannah’s Song of prophecy. She not only became God’s choice to bring forth Samuel, but she gave us the prophecy of future salvation, through Jesus Christ. The significance of salvation is that it is a gift—a free gift—you do not have to pay for it. In Ephesians 2, Paul the Apostle explained how the gift of God is free. We are saved by the grace of God not by works. It is the grace of God, given to each one of us individually. Jesus Christ was not yet born, but Samuel’s mother was speaking about what was happening in her time and the Holy Spirit came and gave her this incredible prophecy. In the New Testament, Luke 2, before Christ was born, we have Mary’s Song, when Mary exalted God for giving her the baby Jesus. Just like Hannah, Mary exalted the Lord for the salvation we receive through Christ Jesus. Do you exalt God? Do you recognize where your salvation comes from. The greatest gift we will ever receive is our salvation and, while it is free to us, it cost the Lord greatly. He gave His only Son, so we would be saved. Think about it and give God the glory.
