Salzburg, Austria is only about an hour and a half from Munich, - TopicsExpress

Salzburg, Austria is only about an hour and a half from Munich, Germany, where we usually fly in and out of when going to Romania. We like to spend one night in Salzburg before leaving for home. I enjoy walking around the city looking for scenes from The Sound of Music. One such place is high up on a mountain overlooking the city just across the Salzach River from the Hohensalzburg castle. I was walking down a narrow, winding street towards the river when I came across a small plaque in the wall. It marked the home of Joseph Mohr. Mohr was the author of the words to Silent Night; Franz Gruber wrote the music. The home was modest, and was in such a place as to be overlooked by most people. Mohr himself came from a poor background, lived a simple life, and wrote Silent Night at this little one-roomed house in 1818. The marker was a reminder that great things can sometimes come from humble people.
