Sam Shaw Appeal14 hours ago..Update: Sam has continued to improve over the last couple of days. We have been able to reduce is morphine infusion a little as his sickness has subsided. He woke up yesterday in a grumpy mood telling us what we had to do and how to do it…. This was wonderful to see as it is the first sign of him fighting back (quite literally at times) He started taking interest in his surroundings, asking to play on his I pad and watch some TV. By late afternoon he was jumping up and down on the bed dancing to ‘Justin’s house’ theme tune and when Justin shouted to the crowd “are you all happy children?” Sam shouted back “I am" He absolutely am...azes us with his strength and resilience… He has been stuck in his hospital cubicle now in strict isolation for two weeks, much of this time he has been hooked up to 4 or 5 medication pumps so unable to move about freely, then he has been given high dose chemotherapy that has completely wiped him out making him violently sick and made his insides red raw, making him cry in pain intermittently. He is still attached to all those medications and being fed intravenously as he can’t eat and drink. He wakes throughout the night with a soaking pillow due to the head sweats and mucus pouring from his mouth. He has terrible tummy pain (mostly controlled by the morphine infusion) with serious diarrhoea, and he is constantly monitored by blood pressure pump and sats monitor – but he is starting to feel better and ‘He is Happy’ We couldn’t be prouder or happier to have our chatty little man back with us…. He is far from out of danger as there are so many serious side effects that he is still vulnerable to, but he is certainly getting stronger day by day and fighting back once again!
