As a prominent guitarist & sometimes songwriter of Joey Dee & The Starlighters, THE PEPPERMINT TWIST DANCE TOOK THE WORLD BY STORM IN THE 1960s !!!! Before Sly & The Family Stone, Joey & The Fellas were the first interracial band of its unique kind with all black musicians & 3 white lead singers who could dance their asses off. This groundbreaking band helped influenced & give birth to many New Jersey & Long Island bands that would soon make their mark like Mountain, Vanilla Fudge & especially The Young Rascals which featured Dave Brigatis younger brother Eddie.... When my granddad left the band to go work for the Beach Boys at their new record label as a staff songwriter, He called upon his young bad ass playing buddy by the name of James Marshall to take his place on Guitar. James Marshall would soon be know to the world as Jimi Hendrix. Also during their the bands run, their international opening act was a new group from Liverpool called The Beatles who would take America by storm a few months later
