Samajwadi Party government spent more on welfare schemes than Gujarat budget, Mulayam Singh Yadav says. Playing with words is something which our leaders (on all sides of the aisle) excel in. The devil is in the details: Gujarat (area 196,000 sq. km. with huge barren stretches, population 60 million) compared with UP (243,000 sq km mostly fertile, even virgin land, wet by the Ganges and its tributaries, population of 199 million). Modi is only a flash in the pan, but the states of Gujarat and UP are for ever; not to be molested to score cheap political points.
