Same old promises, can we please stop the stupidity of all of our branches of government? Id like to offer a simple solution. all elected officials, regardless of position have a maximum of 4 years in service. no lifetime of retirement etc. their pay will be 100k a year, no more. they cannot vote themselves a raise. they must be in the hall of congress in their seats monday through friday for 8 hours per day at the same time all of their constituents are barring medical problems of themselves or family members or federal holidays. there is no retirement. period. you serve your country for those 4 years, and you go home and back to your old job. you will be afforded the ability to have one secretary, and one assistant. no more. these individuals will make 50k a year. you will be given secret service protection. your family will not travel with you unless they are paying for the travel, lodging etc on their trip, you are paid for....because we elected you, not your family. you cannot be a life long politician. if you have been a mayor, you cannot be the president, congressman, senator, governor etc. no exceptions to this rule. your net worth must not be more than 500k dollars, so you are in touch with the rest of this world as far as earnings. you and your family are not allowed to hold stocks in anything during your time serving. you are not immune and you do not have the right to pardon anyone as most pardons seem to make no sense at all. laws from hence forth will be short and sweet, not thousands of pages of legal verbiage. short sweet and to the point, if it is longer than 5 pages long size 12 easy to read font, it doesnt get voted on. no secondary changes in a bill, otherwise known as fluff. for example, lets say the healthcare bill has a blurb in there about tax changes, and EPA requirements...it has nothing to do with it. no matter how much you stretch, dont put it in there. your life as an elected official will be broadcast live and you will be miked. every conversation will be broadcast. this makes sure there is no bullshit going on in the background. for higher level officials needing time to deal with classified operations of our military etc you will be afforded 1 hour per day of briefing and decision time of non broadcast recordings, where your still being recorded and that recording will be held and kept for a duration of 4 years. at this point most classified operations have been completed. once a year after your term this information will be broadcast with time stamps, this way if you have done anything illegal, the US will know and you will be prosecuted. flat tax for everyone, whether you have no kids, married, 50 kids, 40 adopted and 6 dogs. your tax for your income for that year is 12.5%. same for businesses, no exemptions. if you outsource or contract work outside of the united states to save money, etc, your tax rate will be increased to 25%. if you buy something from another country to put into your product or to use in the making of your product your tax is 25%. states will devise their own similar flat taxes. they may choose the percentage for their state only. their will be no sales tax exemptions, if you bought it, you pay the tax. sorry farmers, and other businesses, no more freebies. all things the government wants to buy that costs more than 1 million$ a piece to build or get will be voted on by the american people, not the elected officials. voting will be done online to allow for ease of access. the electoral college will be completely removed, the president will be voted on and direct numbers will be what wins, not a points system. voting for this will also be online and highly secured and every vote vetted for authenticity and to remove any possibility of voter fraud. lets start there and see how we are looking numbers wise and how much better we are doing in the next 10 years. my bet is no debt, a surplus, and some of the best changes to the law we have ever seen.
