Samsung Officially Unveils Galaxy S5 with 5.1 1080p Display, Fingerprint Scanner : Unfortunately, the Galaxy S5 isn’t quite as spectacular as the rumored specs lead us to believe. Instead of a 2560x1440 display, the Galaxy S5 carries on with a 1080p Super AMOLED display, albeit now measuring 5.1”. Taking a cue from Apple, the Galaxy S5 incorporates a fingerprint scanner right into the Home button (the home button is flanked by a pair of capacitive keys). The fingerprint scanner can unlock the smartphone and also be used to authenticate purchases through a partnership with PayPal. For those hoping for a metal body this time around (a la the iPhone 5S or HTC One), you’ll again be disappointed. The Galaxy S5 still carries a primarily dimpled plastic backing.
