Samuel’s Story: “And the word of the Lord was rare in those - TopicsExpress

Samuel’s Story: “And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no widespread revelation.” [1 Samuel 3:1]. What a sad situation! The corrupt, dysfunctional leadership of God’s chosen nation was about to be swept aside. Asaph wrote, “we do not see our signs; there is no longer any prophet; nor is there any among us who knows how long.” [Psalm 74:9]. The leaders were not in a condition to hear or pass on the word of the Lord and our God had begun raising up the boy Samuel, who was separated to serve from childhood. This boy was desperately needed. He grew to be one of God’s greatest ever servants and, is indeed, a type of the Lord Jesus Himself. It is clear from verse one and from 2:18, that Samuel was involved as a separated priest in God’s service and wore a holy, linen garment, the ephod, to signify that he was already God’s chosen. Because of the condition of his heart before a holy God, his age was not an issue. As Samuel found later, “..man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” [1 Samuel 16:7]. https://youtube/watch?v=DwIukabdw3E
