Samuel’s Story: “Speak, for Your servant hears.” [1 Samuel - TopicsExpress

Samuel’s Story: “Speak, for Your servant hears.” [1 Samuel 3: 10]. We need to remind ourselves that our Sovereign God chose to speak to a holy boy. He could not speak to Eli the priest and would not speak to Hophni and Phinehas. God was preparing to remove these men in judgment and establish Samuel as the prophet and priest of the Lord [v20]. It was a brief, difficult and disturbing message given to Samuel [v11 to 14]. The judgment was severe and decisive. Their iniquity was unforgiveable and could, “..not even be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever” [v14]. Behaviour before a holy God does not come more serious than that of these three men. Samuel was understandably disturbed by the message and hesitated to pass it on but was pressurized to do so [v15-17]. He obediently gave a full and truthful account to Eli of all that God would do at a chosen future date. Effectively though God dealt only with Samuel from that point, the others were held for judgment to be carried out. Our holy God requires obedient behaviour! https://youtube/watch?v=jdtHwaNUZho
