San Francisco: Photographer Janet Delaneys monograph South of Market (Mack Books, 2013) features her images of a changing neighborhood in the 1970s and 1980s. WIRED has posted a slideshow that includes four images documenting the queer life and queer sites of the district: the Mercantile Building at Mission and Third, where the Mattachine Society, the Daughters of Bilitis and Pan-Graphic Press had offices in the 1950s; Labyris Auto Repair, a feminist auto shop at 240 Sixth St.; a leatherman on his motorcycle at 60 Langton St.; and the original Hamburger Marys at 1582 Folsom St.
