San Miguel beer, a prominent brand in the Philippines, is subsidizing an illegal dog-meat restaurant and its parent company won’t stop it. The San Miguel Corporation is the Philippines’ largest beverage company and on its website boasts of its commitment to social welfare and ethics. Yet it allows its flagship beer to heavily advertise and brand one of the most notorious dog meat restaurants in the country, the Comiles 2 restaurant in Baguio. The dog meat trade in the Philippines is an industry that slaughters hundreds of thousands of dogs every year. Whilst being driven hundreds of miles the dogs are muzzled and their front legs tied behind their backs. Transport conditions are so bad that 90 per cent of the dogs die on their way to the illegal slaughter houses. Help us stop this trade. Ask San Miguel to ban all advertising and branding at illegal dog meat restaurants.
